Jim Shafer has been creating original music since the early 90's. He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and became involved in music and theater in high school. During his senior year, Jim got a taste what it feels like to be a rock star when he landed the lead role in the stage adaption of Pink Floyd's The Wall.  The following year he landed another leading role in the staging of The Beatles Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. He was hooked on performing in front of a live audience! While attending college, he fronted the rock band Fear of Fate and was one of the main writers of their original material. The band grew a strong following and became one of the highest scored bands in the history of the BAM Magazines Battle of the Bands competition. This captured the attention of Interscope Records but unfortunately they could not reach a deal and Fear of Fate dissolved. Jim went on to create soundtracks for several indie films and work on solo projects.

Two commercial releases of Jims work are available through iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and everywhere digital music is streamed and sold. His first release Halloween Screams found him dabbling in the realm of scary story telling, combining sound effects with dark foreboding moods. His follow up release Music From the Edge of the World takes elements of instruments from all over the world to create a musical journey for the listener.

Jim is a voting level member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, participating in the Grammy awards process. He is currently in the studio recording new material in hopes of achieving Grammy gold.
